Twelve apprentices and dual students kicked off this new chapter in their lives with a varied onboarding week at the Schwarzenbek site.
New faces, lots of impressions, and a first look behind the scenes: On August 1, twelve young people began their apprenticeships or dual study programs at Fette Compacting in Schwarzenbek. Their first week was all about settling in. Instead of diving straight into the daily work routine, they first had the chance to get to know the company, key contacts and their fellow trainees.
The onboarding week gave them a first impression of how Fette Compacting operates and how the various departments at the site work together. During this time, the new colleagues received important information to help them get started and became familiar with the company’s structures. This laid a solid foundation right from the start for the coming years of training and study.
During a tour of the facility, the new recruits explored the various work areas at the site. A scavenger hunt through the production area made their introduction particularly engaging: Working in small groups, they solved puzzles, explored new workstations, and in the process got to know both the company’s operations and each other better.
“Starting an apprenticeship or a dual degree program is a big step for young people. That’s why we want to provide them with guidance right from the start and show them that they can count on a strong network at Fette Compacting,” says Philipp Sierau, Vice President of Human Resources at Fette Compacting. “The first week combines important information with personal interactions. This quickly creates a sense of truly being part of the team.”
By the end of the week, the new trainees were able to show their families just how much they had learned in just a few days. At the parents’ event, they were able to invite their families to Fette Compacting and introduce the company to them from their own perspective. They gave tours of the facility, showed them selected areas, and shared their first experiences. This gave the families the opportunity to get to know their children’s new training location and work environment firsthand.
Following this joint kickoff, the next phase begins. The twelve new apprentices and dual-track students will move on to the training workshop. There, they will gain their first practical experience and learn the fundamentals of practical engineering and technical skills. This training lays a common foundation for their future paths in their respective vocational training programs and degree programs.
With the new cohort, a total of 64 apprentices and dual-track students are completing their vocational training at Fette Compacting. In addition, there are two vocational retraining participants. This brings the total number of young professionals and career starters currently learning and working at the company to 66. This figure demonstrates the importance placed on training at the Schwarzenbek site and how consistently Fette Compacting invests in the skilled workers of tomorrow.
