In use at Laboratoria Wolfs: The F20p integrates seamlessly into existing production – a win for efficiency and ease of use.

Anyone aiming to produce high-quality nutraceuticals efficiently needs more than just solid expertise: they need technology that adapts flexibly to diverse requirements. That is why Laboratoria Wolfs modernized its production with a tablet press from the new p Series. The result: higher speed, shorter changeover times, and intuitive operation – all while maintaining consistently high product quality.

Laboratoria Wolfs, based in Belgium and in demand across Europe, produces dietary supplements – including plant extracts, vitamins, and probiotic formulations – for numerous renowned brands. Production ranges from pilot batches to large-scale runs of millions of tablets. To handle this variety cost-effectively, the company has relied on the P2020 from Fette Compacting since 2023 – a decision that quickly proved successful.

After the positive experience with the P2020, the next step in technology focused on the new p Series from Fette Compacting. The choice fell on the F20p – a tablet press specifically designed for changing formulations and medium to large batches.

“We needed a machine that ensures consistent product quality, high output, and above-average compression forces – even with complex formulations,” explains Pieter De Waele, CEO of Laboratoria Wolfs. “Just as important was the seamless integration into our production and quality systems. Because every investment must serve our long-term strategy.”

Technically strong – right from the start

The potential of the F20p was evident from the very first tests. “We could immediately see what the machine was capable of. Even with one of our more demanding formulations, the F20p impressed us with uniform compressions and a highly consistent tablet weight,” says Gregory Coucke, COO of Laboratoria Wolfs.

Since March 2025, the F20p has been in operation and was running in regular production within just a few days- with tangible success. “Our production speed has measurably increased, and at the same time, product loss during startup has dropped significantly,” reports Coucke.

A key success factor: the F20p’s segment technology. It allows fast changes of format parts and punches without removing the rotor – an advantage that reduces product loss, simplifies format changes, and directly translates into shorter changeover times. “We were able to reduce average changeover time by almost 40 percent,” adds Thomas Willekens, Engineering Manager of Laboratoria Wolfs.

Johan Van Evelghem, owner of ComPack BV and sales partner of Fette Compacting for the Benelux region, adds: “This was a decisive point in our discussions with Laboratoria Wolfs. Especially with such a wide range of formulations and products, it is crucial that format changes can be performed quickly and easily. This provides more flexibility for short-term changes in the production schedule and gives the team greater freedom in day-to-day operations”.

Precise compression force for every formulation: The F20p processes even complex formulations reliably and evenly – for consistently high tablet quality.

Easy to operate, simple to understand

Alongside the performance of the F20p, the well-thought-out operating concept was another convincing factor. “Our employees appreciate the ergonomic design, simplified cleaning processes, and clear operating interface,” says De Waele. The graphically designed human-machine interface (HMI) with touchscreen enables intuitive control and monitoring of all production processes.

The HMI not only simplifies daily operation but also reduces training time for new staff. “We were positively surprised at how intuitive the machine is to operate. The modern, future-oriented design fully convinces us. And it clearly shows that Fette Compacting has developed the new machine generation based directly on customer feedback and practical experience with the P2020,” adds Coucke.

Strong partnership – ready for tomorrow

Laboratoria Wolfs’ decision to choose a tablet press once again from Fette Compacting also stems from the collaboration: “We always received excellent support, both in the technical implementation and in integration into our existing processes. We very much appreciated the openness to dialogue and the genuine interest in our challenges,” emphasizes De Waele. “From the very beginning, it was more than just a supplier relationship – it is a true partnership.”

“For us, it is important not only to deliver machines but to create real solutions for our customers,” explains Van Evelghem. “With Laboratoria Wolfs, we have a partnership where we tackle challenges together and apply the technologies in ways that bring the greatest benefit.”

Aligned with broader strategy

For Laboratoria Wolfs, the F20p is more than a machine – it is a strategic choice. The press is set to replace older systems, consolidate production into fewer high-performance units, and prepare the company for digital applications such as real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance.

“This step fits perfectly with our strategy of efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability,” says De Waele. “Reducing product loss not only improves cost efficiency but also reduces waste – a key part of our sustainability objectives.” Coucke adds: “From an operations perspective, the F20p gives us more transparency, more traceability, and greater flexibility in scheduling.” “And technically, the machine is ready for the future – with strong performance and the ability to integrate tomorrow’s digital tools,” concludes Willekens.
